Adapted from the novel by Myla Goldberg, Bee Season tells the story of a family whose turmoil is brought to the surface by a young girl's unexpected talent.
Saul (Richard Gere), a scholar, diverts himself from the crisis in his marriage to the beautiful but tormented Miriam (Juliette Binoche) by coaching Eliza (Flora Cross), his 11-year-old daughter, who competes in spelling bees. Encouraged by her father, Eliza begins to feel a mystical pull toward words and letters. Meanwhile, her older brother (Max Minghella), feeling neglected, is seduced into a cult by a mysterious young woman (Kate Bosworth).
